The Father sets the tone for the type of music that I wanted to create for this album, sludgy metal guitars accompanied by melodic string patterns. The intro section was loosely inspired by one of my favourite songs, Iron Swan by the American heavy metal band “The Sword”. This flows into a slow-paced “sludge” style verse leading into a double tempo 80’s metal style chorus. This song features the first recorded outing of my newly acquired Fender Squire Jaguar bass guitar, a step up sound-wise from any phase one recording as you can hear the clearer dynamics when hitting the strings.
